WHY US

M Squared Infrastructure was the contractor of choice for the Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project, working alongside Client CYP.

The $10.9 billion Metro Tunnel project will create nine kilometres of twin tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden, Parkville, CBD North, CBD South, and Domain, establishing a dedicated pathway for two of Melbourne’s busiest rail lines.

M Squared Electrical were appointed as the electrical contractor for the first package of the Metro Tunnel Early Works. The company was engaged by the principal contractor, John Holland, to assist with the design and implementation of both temporary and permanent power requirements for the two acoustic sheds located at Becket Street and Franklin Street in the CBD.

Our team played a key role in site establishment, tunnel boring machine (TBM) assembly and disassembly, TBM ancillary services installation, and machinery maintenance.

  • Provide Shift maintenance technicians for support during tunnel excavation, assembly and disassembly of the Tunnelling machines.

Standing 25m above traffic, the 114m long, 1,280t launching gantry is certainly the largest piece of equipment on the whole project. The automatic "twist lock" connecting system allows to lift and hang deck segments in a matter of minutes without manual intervention nor need to access the segment, greatly improving safety and productivity. All the parameters of the PLC controlled machine can be accessed and adjusted remotely.
