WHY US

West Gate Tunnel gantry crane builds elevated roadway above Footscray.

The “Westgate launch gantry” refers to a large, custom-designed crane used in the West Gate Tunnel Project in Melbourne to construct the new elevated road over Footscray Road.

The gantry lifted and placed precast concrete segments to build the road in a span-by-span method, moving across the site. It is 116 meters long, up to 40 meters high, and weighs approximately 1400 tonnes. After completing its work in late 2023, the gantry was removed, and work now focuses on the road’s fit-out.
