We've been providing skilled & experienced tunnelling foremen, leading hands, daywork, and rostered shift electricians for over 7 years.

M Squared Electrical has collaborated with CPB-JH on the West Gate Tunnel project, during which we have effectively carried out seven years of site setup, assembly, and disassembly of tunnel boring machines (TBMs).

Additionally, we have provided vital ancillary services associated with the installation and maintenance of TBMs.

Our contributions include supplying a proficient team comprising tunneling forepersons, leading hands, daywork electricians, and route electricians to bolster this significant infrastructure endeavor.

Previous projects have included the installation of permanent MEI cable ladder and conduit systems, deployment of site fibre, IT networks, and Wi-Fi systems, and the implementation of underground leaky feeder systems alongside the P25 Motorola emergency services radio network. Additional works have involved reinforcement and corbel casting for gantries, road deck plank installation, and the installation of drainage, fire, and dewatering systems.

Each project is designed with careful consideration of site-specific factors, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and seamless integration within the broader infrastructure.

We have worked collaboratively on:

  • All site establishment works which include all crib and site amenities, 300 person project office complex and community centre, 24,000 m2 spoil shed, bath house and laundry.
  • Installation and wiring of 2 x 15meter Herrenknecht Tunnel boring machines
    • 20 Mva of installed TBM power and 6 Mva of installed TBM services power
  • Installation and management of site High Voltage reticulation systems
  • 600m x1.8m dia pipejack drive  Pipe jack and slurry plant assembly, disassembly and 24hr/7 day electrical shift maintenance.
  • 6km Martitechnik Tunnel conveyor, loop take up and overland conveyor systems
  • 3 x Eilbeck 500T, 250T, 40T cranes dismantling and reassembly
  • 1100 kw of Tunnel  ventilation
  • Tunnelling Industrial and potable water pump systems and controls
  • Project wide site emergency lighting, site flood lighting to meet AS3012 requirements.
  • 3 x 1MVA Integrated back up generator systems
  • 8 x 180kw compressor stations to support TBM compressed air interventions
  • Provide a support team during compressed air interventions
  • Construction wiring throughout the tunnel sites and Tunnel including all underground lighting, evacuation system, Construction boards, Test and tag.
  • Installation of permanent MEI cable ladder and conduits
  • Installation of site fibres, IT network and WIFI systems
  • Installation of 24 km of underground leaky feeder systems and P25 motorola emergency services radio network
